sake and tarpology

first off, i am going to sing the praises of sake (rice wine). due to certain health considerations i am no longer a drinker of the beer (mores the pity). oh well. however, i have discovered the wonderful world of sake! here is why it is so damn good:
sake can be served hot, cold or on the rocks.
a good bottle can be found at around 7 bucks.
sake can be easily converted to meet the requirements of most martini drinks.
sake is perfectly clear and near odorless, giving it a "oh, this is just water officer" factor of 10.
you can cook with it.
sake is anywhere from 15-25% alcohol content (depending on type). buzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
sake has been around for a long time, meaning they have had time to work on it and get it right.
all of this said, if anyone would like to partake with me at the festival, i will have plenty.

moving on.

tarpology: n. the study of the application of tarps to supply the needs of shelter.
every year we scramble and struggle on setup day to come with shelter. we usually figure something out but i think it could be easier. we usually have a tree or two or seven which to attach things to but they are not always in a perfect position and we sure as hell can't move the trees so we need something we can move. i am going to run out some long poles to use as supports in order to give us some frame elements to work with. we will of course need tarps (preferably 10x10) and plenty off rope and stakes. it would also be handy to have some glow sticks or small lights to attach to the support lines so drunk hippies don't trip and fall in the fire. fire bad. if anybody has any of these said goodies please bring them. if anybody has any bright ideas please share.

Josh - welcome!

I'm going to take stock of our tarps today and see what we've got. The glowstick/light idea is a good one. If we could find some battery powered lights or something, that would be perfect. Anyone know what the longevity is on a glow stick? Not the necklace kind, the real deal.

We also found a really good deal on rope. We didn't buy it, so I'll need to see if it's still available.

They have those little battery powered click on lights now.
We could secure those towards the bottom of the line.
We'd be able to turn them on and off as needed.
Just a thought.

Well, it's not fancy but I did plan on buying a boat load of glow sticks. But I was going for the fun kind, not functional. You are more than welcome to those or if you want. If not let me know and I'll keep my eyes open for something more "emergency" like.
Oh and yay for a blogging Josh!

Okay. Well. When all you mamas have it figured out, let me know if I can help.
In the meantime, I'll look at the chewing gum at Walgreen's, while I'm waiting for someone to fuss up my commute. Sometimes they have fancy gadgets there, to entice. And let me tell you. The temptation is severe.
I will see if any space-age solar devices have trickled down from the late 80s. It shall happen.

We will have wide eyes.
